topics, please

okay, give me a topic. I can think of some things, but when I start to write an enrty, I end up staring at the blank section of the screen and getting blanker in the head. I think about many important things during the day, and when I get here, blank. So help jog me into something to talk about. Give me some subject ideas. Or, give me some ideas, subject. NOW!

The ex Navy Seal

On my last day of work, this guy came in and asked some questions about a politically oriented film, and we ended up talking about politics in general. We mostly agreed on things, both being against the war and whatnot. I asked him how he felt about politics when he was in the military, and he said that he was fairly apolitical at the time. He added that military service should not give anyone more credibility to talk about foreign policy, and that it is wrong for people to see it that way. Common sense can open anyone's eyes to what is really happening. He called America the most brainwashed nation in the world, and the military the most brainwashed portion of the population. He despises the ribbon magnets that people are putting on their cars, and says that if you want to support the troops, you should help stop the war. He pointed me to some reading that was relevant... maybe I'll post that when I find the note I wrote about it.

I was happy that he said those things, not me, but now I'm repeating his words, so I guess that I'm saying it. But, despite the fact that he said his military service gives him no more credibility on the matter than me, I know that in some people's eyes it does, so it is nice to hear such criticisms, as harsh as they are, from someone who can't be told they don't understand the military.
